Surgical Kit
Expandable’s SURGICAL KIT module simplifies the tasks associated with tracking kits and parts as they move from assembly, to the hospital, to the operating room, and after surgery.
With the surgical kit module, Expandable customers are able to meet regulatory requirements, reduce spoilage by better monitoring the expiration dates of product in the field, and improve customer service with complete visibility of devices available for consumption.
Each surgical kit created is unique and all kit activity is tracked by its individual Kit ID.
The scope of the surgical kit module covers the creation of a surgical kit based on an assembly’s bill of materials, the consigned shipment of the surgical kit to an off-site location, and the tracking of the kit’s inventory.
Inventory tracking can include serialized inventory and lot controlled components.

Backflush Kit Issue
This program creates surgical kits. The kit assembly’s components are ‘backflushed’ out of inventory based on the assembly’s bill of materials and converted into a serialized surgical kit assembly.
Reverse Backflush Kit Issue
This program reverses a non-consigned surgical kit. The program returns all kitted components to inventory and removes the surgical kit assembly from inventory, and deletes the surgical kit records.
Surgical Kit Issue
This program allows the issuing or returning of surgical kit components into or out of a surgical kit after it has been created and prior to consignment.
Surgical Kit Editor
This program allows a user to reserve a kit prior to consignmentand add notes or attachments to a surgical kit record. There are 16 user fields available for use.
Surgical Kit Workbench
The Surgical Kit Workbench program is used to handle most surgical kit transactions after being consigned to an off-site location. A user enters (or searches for) the Kit ID, then selects an action mode for processing.
